Open3DLab Content Monitoring Procedures and Content Removal Policy

Purpose of Open3DLab

Open3DLab is a platform dedicated to enabling creators to upload and share their own artistic assets, including 3D models, textures, and other useful art content. All content is shared under an open license chosen by the uploader, fostering a collaborative and creative community. Users can download these assets and utilize them in their own renders, animations, or other projects.

The team monitors the first few uploads submitted by users, after which they gain verified uploader status and can upload without having to go through the manual moderation system. All content on the site may at any time be reported to site staff, after which they will be manually reviewed. Uploaders have the ability to remove comments below their uploads. The expectation is that uploaders police the comments sections, and enable receiving notifications below their own uploads. Some comments are automatically blocked when hateful content is detected. Comments below uploads are not manually reviewed by site staff unless reported by a user.

Licensing Policy

Users of Open3DLab can only choose from Creative Commons licenses or public domain attribution licenses (including CC0 and beerware) when uploading their content. This ensures transparency and consistent usage rights for all assets on the platform.

Prohibited Content

Open3DLab does not allow the following types of content:

  • Illegal content, including but not limited to content involving abuse, minors, or bestiality.
  • Copyrighted material uploaded without proper authorization.
  • Hateful material targeting individuals or groups.
  • Any material deemed inappropriate by site staff.

The site staff holds the right to remove any content if necessary.

Reporting System

To maintain a safe and respectful environment, Open3DLab provides users with tools to report problematic content. For users who are logged in, we provide dedicated buttons to file reports directly through the site through a simple, interactive process. For non-members, the buttons will trigger an email dialog. It is recommended to file reports as a logged-in user, as this allows the team for faster reviewing and handling of reports.

Upload Reporting

  • Users can report uploads by clicking a report button and selecting a report category.
  • Specific categories include illegal content (e.g., abuse, minors, bestiality), copyright infringement, and "other," which allows users to specify the nature of their concern.
  • Reports are added to a moderation queue visible to the moderation team and notify an internal moderation channel.

Comment Reporting

  • Users can report comments by clicking a report button and confirming the report.
  • These reports are also added to the moderation queue and notify the internal moderation channel.

Moderation and Enforcement

  • Reports are reviewed by a team of volunteer moderators supervised by the site owner. The site owner handles most cases, especially severe or legally sensitive ones.
  • Illegal content is prioritized and removed as quickly as possible, typically within 48 hours.
  • If violations are confirmed, the following actions may be taken:
    • Immediate removal of the offending upload or comment.
    • Direct contact with the user through Discord or email for serious violations.
    • Penalties for repeat offenders, including revocation of upload permissions, comment permissions, or full account and IP bans.

Copyright Infringement

For copyright-related concerns, Open3DLab follows a Notice and Take Down process outlined in the Terms of Use and site FAQ. This process is managed via email and handled directly by the site owner. Users are notified if their content is removed for copyright reasons.

Notice and Take Down

If your content was uploaded to this site without permission, please contact the site staff through dmca@open3dlab.com. Your message must:

  • Identify in sufficient detail the copyrighted work that you believe has been infringed upon (i.e., describe the work that you own).
  • Identify the content on the site that you claim is infringing on your copyright (preferably include a hyperlink to the offending content)
  • Identify yourself as being the legitimate rights holder of the copyrighted work that is being infringed upon. (i.e. proof of identity and documentation that links you to the copyrighted work as being the rights holder)
  • Provide a reasonably sufficient method of contacting you. Email address is preferred.

If the information is accurate, the site staff will remove the infringing content. Note that this process may take several hours or days depending on the staff's availability.

Further information can be found in the terms of service on this website.

Transparency and Appeals

  • Users are informed when their content is removed, including the reason for removal.
  • Appeals for content removal can be directed to the site owner through the dedicated email channel, as outlined in the Terms of Use.
